circa 23,2 x 16 cm., with 9 coloured frontispieces and 119 engraved plates. Amply decorated full morocco bindings with silk endpapers (signed H. Jackel & Co. N.Y.) Limited edition, one of 775, here an exceptional copy, the frontispieces coloured and signed by the colourist (in few cases the colour has oxidised and darkened). The works contain: The Renaissance - Marius the Epicurean - Imaginary Portraits, Gaston de Latour - Appreciations - Plato and Paltonism - Greek studies - Miscellaneous studies. The extra volume (here counted as vol 9) contains Essays from "The Guardian", among these: English literature, Amiel s Journal intime, Browning, Robert Elsemere, Their majesties servants, Wordsworth, Mr. Gosse s poems, Ferdinand Fabre, The contes of M. Augustin Filon.
Bemerkung:
- Very few spots, mostly clean, spines uniformly faded, very minor rubbing, but a very nice and decorative set in exceptionally sumptuous bindings.
