"YAKUBOVICH Peter Filippovich (1860-1911, St. Petersburg), poet, writer, participant of People"s Will movement of the 1880s. He graduated from Faculty of History and Philology of Petersburg University (1882). From 1878 he published verses in Delo, Otechestvennye Zapiski, Slovo, and other magazines. After graduating from university he entered Petersburg Department of People"s Will Party, and was one of the organizers of the Young People"s Will Party, its leader and ideologist. In 1884 he lived at 17 Seventh Rozhdestvenskaya Street (today the Seventh Sovetskaya Street), and at Konnogvardeiskaya Street (today it is part of Suvorovsky Avenue; the house has not been preserved). In the same year he was arrested and put to Trubetskoy Bastion of the St. Peter-and-Paul Fortress. In 1887 he was sentenced to death by the Petersburg Military District Court; the sentence was overturned to 18 years hard labour. From 1895 he had lived in a Kurgan Village, and published a series of essays In the World of the Outcasts (about the life and morrals of a penal colony) in Russkoe Bogatstvo under the pen-name L. Melshin. From 1900 he had lived under the supervision of police in Udelnaya Village near St. Petersburg. From 1901 he supervised a poetic Department, from 1904 had become one of the editors of Russkoe Bogatstvo. He had links with socialist-revolutionaries and rendered various services to them. He was buried at Literatorskie Mostki" (Saint Petersburg Encyclopaedia).- Stärkere Gebrauchsspuren, etwas gebräunt, vereinzelt leicht braun- oder fingerfleckig, wenige Textanstreichungen mit Bleistift.
