Beschreibung:

circa 25,8 x 54,5 cm., on paper. laid down on card board (on rear with old advertisement: O. W. Paper & Arts Co, London) Nice oblong panoramic view over the city to the Acropolis, signed by Tristram James Ellis (1844-1922, from Malvern) to lower left, dated 1907. The artist Ellis travelled widely in the Mediterranean and Near East. He painted Greece on several occasions and his works are as decorative as they are historically interesting for their documenation of the contemporaneous state of Greek cities before their modern uglification. - A previous owner has noted in pencil that E.O. (?) has bought 3 watercolours from king George I of Greece in Athens, apparently including this.

Bemerkung:

- Few small spots, just a little browned, but nice.
