Beschreibung:

circa 15,5 x 9 cm., 4 ff., 264 pp.. Contemporary full calf with gilded spine Barbier, III, 959; Gay, III, 824. Curious work warning a young man who is about to go to Paris. Written like a long letter by an uncle to his nephew with admonitions to beware especially of the loose women in the capital. The work was first published in 1659 and apparently Ninon de Lenclos felt herself attacked or at least thought she might defend the "coquettes" of Paris against unfair criticism which she did in her reply under the title "La Coquette vengée".

Bemerkung:

- Titel with small old inscriptions, binding rubbed and with small loss due to worming. Inside minor browning only and mostly clean.
