Bemerkung:

Wellcome III, 390; Ebert 11363; Higgs 6616; Cox I, 133; Graesse IV, 15 - First English edition, based on and translated from the 2nd German Edition, the first German Edition was published in 1740, Hannover. The copperplates are in fine and fresh condition, signed "C. H. Hem(m)erich sculp." The author Johann Georg Keysler (also Keyssler; 1693-1743) was a German archaeologist and writer. The German Edition of his famous work "Neueste Reise duch Teutschland" was severely censored because Keysler also discussed the present political and economic conditions in the German states. "This work though heavy, is interesting from the picture it exhibits of Germany, etc., in the middle of the 18th century. [...] The volumes deal with the natural history, manners, commerce, manufactures, laws, antiquities, etc., and close with an appendix of roads, post stages , etc." (Cox).
