Supposedly translated from the English but in fact an original work by the actress Madame Riccoboni (1714-1792) with some autobiographical elements. It proved to be very successful and influential and is considered to be one of the most important novels written by a woman in the 18th century. - Endpaper with older stamp of a private library, lower margin with stain throughout, never touching the text, else quite nice, uncut, in its first simple wrapper (some loss to the spine, but solid).
