Bemerkung:

The beautiful illustrations, in the manner of Grandville, 'Les Papillons' with its anthropomorphic depictions is very much in a similar style. It also can be seen as a precursor of Surrealism. The text by Nus and Meray are illustrated with fancifull inspired and characterised butterflies by Amédée Varin. - Plates for page 157 and 209 in volume 1 are missing; spines partly rubbed. - Inside a good and clean copoy.
