Ein gutes und sauberes Exemplar. - In 1984, in his foreword to Kolâr's Nuremberg catalogue, Jan Vladislav explained in what extent the collaged Newsreels were related to his earlier collections of poems. The series of his poetic diaries dating from 1945-1950 includes Days of the Year, Years of the Days, The Eyewitness and, last but not least, a 1950 anthology entitled Jubilant Graveyard, included in the book The Liver of Prometheus. As we know, Kolâf seduced many friends to start a diary as a kind of ground plan of literary treatment the virtues of which he would clarify to them. Considering Kolâr's permanent, insatiable thirst for facts, his undying passion for documenting the true pace of events and the truthfulness of impressions, we must admit that this autobiographical nature, this diary principle committed to factography, permeates both his work and his deeds. It was the risk of unpredictability which constantly lured him into the traps of poetic hazard. "I have always been interested in magazines and newspapers, and not only in their form. A newspaper can hardly be composed the day before it hits the stalls! This unpredictability was my main motivation to start a diary... Initially in verse and prose. The collage impulse that came later was of similar type. ISBN 8085639033
