Bemerkung:

Umschlag etwas defekt, sonst gutes Exemplar. - In this volume of the Mellon Lectures, it is the artist who speaks. Naum Gabo, leading exponent of the movement in modern art known as Constructivism, here tells of an artist's development and growing to consciousness and-in his words -"of the mental mechanism of the artist." Of Naum Gabo, Herbert Read has written, "He has devoted himself to the realization of a totally new conception of art, and in an age of experiment it is distinguished by the passion, the consistency, and the clarity of vision that have constantly inspired the artist." These lectures reveal the manifold influences on this artist's work, which in turn has been highly influential on the development of modern art. Even more, perhaps, it is a highly personal account of an artist's search for new technics of communication. Of Divers Arts contains 73 halftone plates (15 in four-color). They include 14 works by Gabo and 27 examples of Russian religious and folk art and works by Mikhail Vrubel, which have played an important part in determining Gabo's development.
