Bemerkung:

Umschlag leicht defekt, sonst gutes Exemplar. - This book is about the first fourteen years of the community-based mural movement. It is an attempt at its history and an effort to learn from the muralists' bid to restore art and its making to the common life. The number of murals that have been done in these years is enormous. It has been estimated that by 1979 in Los Angeles alone there were over one thousand. While the murals have been painted mainly in major cities across the country, they have increasingly appeared in the suburbs, small towns, and countryside. Therefore, I have had to make a selection and have concentrated on those in the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, Los Angeles, San Diego, Seattle, Portland, Denver, Santa Fe, Chicago, Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington. A few other areas are touched on, but many are neglected, not because of any lack of interest, but to be able to go into some depth in representative localities. ISBN 0845347314
