Contemporary marbled boards First edition of the second public letter by the Swiss-born French politician and author Benjamin Constant (1776-1830) in the affair about Wilfried Regnault who had been sentenced to death for a murder he quite obviously did not commit. This scandal about legal mistakes and prejudices has often been compared to the "affaire Calas". - A first letter had been published the same year. This second text in defence of the innocent Regnault contains "un plan figuré du lieu où s'est commis l'assassinat.".
