Eingerahmte Ansicht von der Burg Rheinfels in St. Goar auf Stoff, wahrscheinlich Seide, sauber, dekorativer vergoldeter Holz-Rahmen, ohne Jahr, vermutlich ca. 1880. Rahmengröße 51 x 39 Cm. 2,1 Kg. --- A rare and interesting framed picture on probably silk material (undated, around 1880), showing the famous castle Rheinfels of Skt. Goar. Sankt Goar is well known for its central location in the Rhine Gorge, a UNESCO World Heritage Site since July 2002. Above the town stand the ruins of Burg Rheinfels, one of the castles for which the Middle Rhine is famous, and across the river lies the sister town of Sankt Goarshausen with its own castles, Katz and Maus (Cat and Mouse). The Loreley is right nearby, just upstream over on the right bank.
