"Halle, Marhold 1907. Gr.8°. IV, 179 Seiten. Bedruckte Originalbroschur Erstausgabe. Jung-Merker/Rüf 1907a. Heirs of Hippocrates 2301: ""...He was the first to offer a tentative psychosomatic explanation for dementia praecox, in which the brain was the target organ. This meant that dementia praecox could be understood within a psychoanalytic framework, offering hope for patients who were borderline cases. It was in this book that Jung drew international attention to Freud's fundamental theories."" (the first psychosomatic theory of the origin of schizophrenia. Jung hypothesized that 'complexes', the term he coined to describe constellations of emotionally charged ideas, produced a toxin that impaired mental functioning and released the contents of the complex directly into consciousness. The work influenced Bleuler, Jung's teacher at the Burghölzi Asylum in Zürich, when he proposed the name 'schizophrenia' in 1911 (vgl. Norman 245). Besondere Bedeutung verdient das zweiseitige Vorwort, in dem Jung seine Position zu Sigm. Freud ausführlich schildert. An den Rändern unbeschnitten, die Deckel neu angesetzt, einige Seiten mit Blattverlust aufgeschnitten. Von geringen Gebrauchsspuren abgesehen gutes Exemplar. "
